Green Worldwide Shipping is proud to announce a $20,000 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through participation in this year’s nationwide St. Jude Walk. The event brings together individuals and teams across the country each September during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude: Finding cures. Saving children.
Employees from all 16 Green offices across the United States participated in local and virtual walks, continuing the company’s strong tradition of community engagement and collective action. This is the 4th year in a row that Green participated with $119,541 in funds donated since participating this annual event. These efforts reflect Green’s ongoing commitment to “Make a Difference,” a core company fundamental that unites employees, customers, and partners behind meaningful causes.
WHAT IMPACT DOES ST. JUDE HAVE ON CHILDREN AND FAMILIES?
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital remains at the forefront of pediatric cancer treatment and research. Treatments developed at St. Jude have helped increase the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent in 1962 to more than 80 percent today. Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food, allowing them to focus entirely on helping their child live. This mission continues to inspire Green’s employees year after year to support St. Jude’s life-saving work.
HOW DO DONATIONS DIRECTLY HELP SAVE CHILDREN’S LIVES?
It costs more than $2 billion each year to sustain and expand the hospital’s operations, and the majority of those funds come from generous donors. Only 12 percent of St. Jude’s annual operating revenue comes from insurance recoveries, a significant difference from most hospitals that rely on insurance for over 90 percent of funding. Donations help cover the average $425,000 cost of treatment per patient, ensuring that care, travel, and housing are always free of charge. Importantly, 82 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to support patient care, research, and future innovations that improve survival outcomes.
