TESTIMONIAL | HEAVY HAUL CLIENT
case study
OVERVIEW
When an energy producer planned the overseas installation of a high-value cable reel, it sought a reliable partner with proven heavy haul experience. Green Worldwide Shipping’s® (Green) familiarity with client stakeholders and the Port of Houston operators enabled Green to develop an efficient and cost-conscious project plan for the $1.9M oversized 210” x 181” x 181” cable reel that weighed approximately 33,730 lbs.
THE SOLUTION
Green synchronized crane and trailer assets and secured the vessel booking before dispatch. The team collected the cable reel ahead of a holiday port closure, delivered it to the Port of Houston, and staged it on a MAFI trailer while holiday-hour restrictions delayed the sailing. When the window reopened, Green coordinated roll-on loading without re-handling, keeping the shipment secure, compliant, and on schedule.
Hands-On Oversight
Green maintained direct control at each transfer point, ensuring secure and timely movement.
Schedule Assurance
Green delivered the reel to the Port of Houston before a holiday shutdown, staged it on a MAFI trailer during the holiday vessel slip, and loaded it at the first available window.
Cost Control
Early asset booking and pre-holiday staging protected the budget from detention and demurrage.
Special Requirements
The cable reel height necessitated a route survey and bucket trucks for secure city transport and pre-holiday scheduling.
PROJECT RESULTS
This cable-reel move shows how deliberate planning keeps projects on track, even during holiday closures. Green collected the reel before the break, staged it on a MAFI trailer, and loaded it at the first available window without any rehandling.

The project finished on time with zero demurrage, detention, or added costs, reinforcing the shipper’s trust in Green’s heavy haul project expertise.
