ZERO-EMISSIONS REPORTING EXTENDED

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has granted heavy-duty truck owners and operators – including drayage vehicles – an extra month to complete their 2023 reporting for the Clean Truck Check program. The new deadline for entering information into the Clean Truck Check-Vehicle Inspection System (CTC-VIS) reporting database has been extended until January 31, 2024.

“Due to the impact that truck traffic has on residents living near heavily trafficked corridors, drayage trucks will need to be zero-emissions by 2035.”

CLEAN TRUCK CHECK

CARB’s goal with the Clean Truck Check program is to reduce air pollutants created by heavy duty trucks by requiring fleet owners and operators to conduct regular maintenance on vehicles and to incorporate low or zero-emissions vehicles into their operations. The initiative includes regular vehicle testing mandates with additional emissions monitoring methods and enhanced enforcement approaches to pinpoint vehicles requiring emissions-related repairs and guarantee the completion of any necessary fixes.

“The reporting requirements apply to vehicles that exceed 14,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and are powered by diesel or alternative fuels, with rare exception. This includes in-state and out-of-state vehicles that travel within California, as well as public vehicles (federal, state and local); motorcoaches; transit, shuttle and school buses; personal vehicles; California-registered motorhomes; single vehicle fleets; and vehicles registered outside of California (not including motorhomes).”

CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD

The California Air Resources Board (CARB), is the primary California state authority responsible for safeguarding public well-being from the adverse impacts of air pollution and spearheading initiatives against climate change. CARB’s overarching mission is to uphold public health, welfare, and ecological balance by efficiently reducing air pollutants while weighing economic implications.
