GREEN WORLDWIDE DELIVERS ON ITS PROMISE TO PLANT TREES WITH Q2 DONATIONS TO TREES FOR THE FUTURE

Green Worldwide Shipping®, a leader in international freight forwarding and global trade solutions, donated 25,000 trees in Q2 achieving over 415,000 planted since Green Tree Initiative started in 2019.

Through a partnership with Trees for the Future, Green Worldwide plants a tree for every customer, every shipment, and every new employee hired. Trees for the Future is an international nonprofit organization that focuses on eliminating hunger, training rural farmers in sustainable agroforestry practices, and healing the environment.

One of Green’s fundamental values is knowing that we can and should make a difference in our communities and the world,” states Anne Shudy Palmer, Director of Sustainability, Green Worldwide Shipping. “The Forest Gardens we create through our partnership with Trees for the Future make an enormous difference in the lives of participating farm families through increased food security, dietary diversity, and income reliability. They also sequester carbon, preserve topsoil, and support biodiversity. We are proud that each of our shipments, customers and employees supports this sustainability work!”

REVERSING UNSUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE AND HELPING SUB-SAHARAN FARM FAMILIES THRIVE

One tree sequesters an average of 34.6 pounds of carbon annually. Green’s efforts with Trees for the Future sequestered 3,589,750+ pounds of carbon in Q2. Sequestered carbon is captured or absorbed through trees and plant life removing it from the atmosphere, reducing air pollution, and slowing climate change. In addition to offsetting carbon emissions, Green’s partnership with Trees for the Future provides rural farmers with accessible Forest Garden Training. On average, a Forest Garden offsets 144.64 metric tons of carbon dioxide per acre of land over 20 years. Trees for the Future is currently working with thousands of farming villages in sub-Saharan Africa – helping these farmers reverse decades of unsustainable agricultural practices that were detrimental to the local environment and global climate.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN

Every farmer is eligible for Trees for the Future’s “life-changing” forest garden training program regardless of gender, education, income level, or disability. Forest Gardens promote sustainable agriculture, and financial independence, positively impacting the regions where Trees for the Future works.
