GREEN’S PROJECT CARGO TEAM DELIVERS OVERSIZED MACHINERY FROM OHIO TO GEORGIA

MODE OF TRANSPORT: PROJECT CARGO, DOMESTIC OVER-WEIGHT
ROUTE: CANTON, OH TO ROME, GA
DATE: APRIL 2020
THE CLIENT

A leading supplier of two piece can- and end-making machinery.

THE CHALLENGE

To ensure the 73,000lb cupping press with its additional crates arrived without problems to Rome, GA by the customer’s requested delivery date.

WHAT IS A CUPPING PRESS?

A cupping press (also known as cupping system) is a large piece of machinery used to produce cups for 2-piece beverage, food and aerosol cans from aluminum and steel coil or sheet stock.

THE SERVICE

Having extensive experience in moving similar cargo throughout the United States and other International locations, the Green Worldwide Shipping® project cargo team was able to coordinate this shipment with confidence and efficiency.

The Green project cargo team received notice from their customer of an upcoming shipment in late March 2020, at which time the they began coordinating with domestic carrier options. Approximately five days prior to the pickup of the press, Green received all required permits to transport through the states of Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia. Permits are required for oversized, extra-heavy loads that are transported on public roads.

On April 6, 2020, a heavy-lift crane transferred the 73,000lb cupping press onto an 8-axle, drop-deck trailer and tarp wrapped for protection. Once covered, the transport truck and trailer began to make their way to Georgia. The journey took two days for the cupping press to make its way from Canton, Ohio to Rome, GA for final delivery on April 8, 2020.
