U.S. COAST-TO-COAST MARKET UPDATE

Container ships are anchored outside of the ports awaiting berth. The berth congestion appears to be mainly caused by late/off proforma vessels and the issue is expected to continue, over the next month.

There are currently 34 container ships at anchor outside the ports and 3 heading to anchor.

  • Average wait time at anchor 5 days.

The terminals are severely congested, some are at, or over capacity. Import volumes may begin to go down in the following weeks, as reported by the port of Los Angeles, although volumes this year still greatly surpass those of 2020 during this time.

  • Chassis street dwell is 6 days 20ft, 9 days 40/45ft.

  • Turn-times range from 1h40min up to 2h.
    • Appointments are required before 1 pm to mitigate congestion.
