A world-renowned research facility in Switzerland maintains a Data Centre that serves as the core of the organization’s comprehensive scientific, administrative, and computing infrastructure. It houses essential services like email, scientific data management, and video conferencing, all relying on specialized equipment.

The Data Centre runs approximately 345,700 processor cores, 185 tape drives, and 12,100 servers 24/7. THE CHALLENGE

The shipment contained valuable, delicate equipment that required diplomatic, specialized handling with adherence to strict appointment schedules set by the research facility.

Two hundred and fifty LTO-9 data storage tapes valued at $377,500.00 USD required careful packaging for export from the U.S. to Switzerland with documentation that complied with all governing administrative regulations.

THE SOLUTION

Green Worldwide worked closely with the Colorado-based partner to develop a comprehensive logistics plan tailored to the unique requirements of this project.

THE RESULTS

Green Worldwide Shipping and our partners’ efforts successfully managed the seamless delivery of additional storage equipment from the U.S. to the research facility’s Data Centre in Switzerland.

After departing Colorado on October 10th, all 250 LTO-9 data storage tapes, valued at $377,500.00 USD, arrived in Frankfurt on October 11th. Next, the shipment departed Frankfurt and arrived in Geneva on October 13th. The cargo was cleared through Customs with a diplomatic bond and was delivered to its final destination on October 20th.

The  equipment was delivered in Switzerland on time and in pristine condition, ready for immediate integration into the Data Centre’s operations, ensuring minimal disruption to the facility’s scientific endeavors, allowing researchers to continue their vital work without interruption.
