Why Trees?
Trees help to offset carbon and create oxygen through photosynthesis. Each tree planted in a Forest Garden sequesters an average of 34.6 lbs. of carbon annually which helps combat climate change.
What is a Forest Garden?
Unlike traditional agriculture, known for harvesting single crops, Forest Gardens have combinations of trees, grains, fruits, vegetables, and shrubs. They are planted in a way that better supports the land, and farmers.
Are there other benefits to planting trees?
Planting trees improves the quality of crop lands and therefore productivity. When planted in Forest Gardens, trees help to lessen the wind that might affect crops, cool off ground temperatures, and trap moisture and nutrients in the soil. This creates a sustainable income and food source.
