Ningbo Ports Under Lockdown Amid COVID Outbreak

New Year celebrations were cut short over the weekend in China’s Beilun district as the area was put under strict lockdown after a confirmed COVID outbreak.

Maintaining a zero-COVID policy, Chinese authorities have implemented mass testing, disinfection procedures, stay-at-home orders, and quarantine measures for the area.

Operations at the nearby Port of Ningbo have been impacted as shippers struggle to find trucking solutions amid the government’s gate-in/gate-out restrictions on domestic carriers.  Trucking services surrounding the Beilun District are suspended.  Only specific police-controlled domestic carriers are being allowed to operate within lockdown areas.

NINGO CONTAINER TERMINALS IMPACTED

  • Ningbo Beilun Second (NBSCT)
  • Ningbo Beilun Third (NBTCT)

Ocean carriers have already begun to divert or cancel port calls to restricted Ningbo container terminals in an effort to avoid delays and strict health check for onboard crews.

This is the third lockdown for China’s Ningbo area over the past six months.  Shippers are advised to connect with origin manufacturers to determine delays and contingency procedures.
