WAREHOUSE FIRES IN THE U.S.

With so many reports in the media of warehouse fires across throughout the United States, the following is a quick summary of the locations, damage, and impact.

  • On February 6, a massive fire broke out in a furniture warehouse in Chicago Heights, IL. The ash and dense smoke spread for more than 3 miles around.
  • On February 12, a waste-to-energy facility burned for a week in Doral, Fl.
  • On February 16, an acre of a plastic industrial warehouse in Kissimmee, FL, burned for hours before the fire was brought under control.
  • On February 17, a fire at an architectural products warehouse in West Side Chicago, IL, burned for more than an hour, causing severe damage and the roof collapse.
  • On February 21, a lumber storage warehouse in Brooklyn, NY, burned for several hours, spreading rapidly, and causing significant damage.

The cause of these incidents has either not been reported or remains under investigation.
