Major Snowstorm Heading for Northeast U.S. Ports this Week

Northeast ports in the United States will be closing due to a high-impact snowstorm, starting this Wednesday and is predicted to last through December 17, 2020.

Heavy snow is expected, from 12 to 24 inches in New Jersey tomorrow, and strong winds will likely cause whiteout conditions throughout the greater Northeast, leading to road delays. Highways in the area will also be closing. Alternative arrangements should be made for impacted cargoes while road conditions remain poor.

The storm may also affect rail transportation and air cargo therefore rescheduling will have to take place.

Interstate highways affected by the storm are expecting delays. These include I – 95 I-90, I-80, I-70, I-64, I-81, I-77, I-76, I-79, I-87, I-91, I-86, I-84, I-89, I-93

RAIL CARRIERS

The essential rail carriers within the possible storm zone include Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC) and CSX (NYSE: CSX).

AIRPORTS

Flight delays and cancellations are predicted over the next few days at major Northeast airports.

Among the many shipment delays expected due to this storm are shipments of the newly approved COVID 19 vaccine.
