UFLPA Regional Alert Import Requirements Live on March 18

Green Paper Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act UFLPAU.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Region Alert goes into effect on March 18, 2023, adding three new validations to data requirements when the Country of Origin is China and for Manufacturer Identification Code (MID) creation when filing import Customs entries.

UFLPA REGION ALERT DATA REQUIREMENTS STARTING MARCH 18

The UFLPA Region Alert will add three new validations that will be performed when Country of Origin is China for Entry and for Manufacturer Identification Code (MID) creation for both Trade and CBP users:

  • Postal code will be a required field.
  • Users will receive an error message if the postal code provided is not a valid Chinese postal code.
  • Users will receive a warning message when a Uyghur region postal code has been provided.

In CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), the new requirement will be called “UFLPA Region Alert” under which the “postal code” will become a “required field” when “Country of Origin is China for Entry and for Manufacturer Identification Code (MID) creation.”

UFLPA TRADE STATISTICS DASHBOARD

The UFLPA Statistics Dashboard provides that trade community with information about shipments subjected to UFLPA reviews or enforcement actions.

In 2023 fiscal YTD, of the 1,704 shipments, valued at $489 million, that have been reviewed by CBP:

  • 501 (29%, $183M) have been released
  • 229 (13%, $15M) have been denied, and
  • 974 (57%, $290M) are still pending.
