Green Worldwide Shipping® (Green) proudly announces that it has expanded its work against human trafficking by signing the Transportation Leaders Against Human Trafficking (TLAHT) pledge. A collaboration between the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDoT), logistics sector, and travel industries, the voluntary TLAHT program works collaboratively to combat human trafficking. The Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 defines human trafficking as (A) sex trafficking involving force, fraud, or coercion; or (B) the exploitation of individuals for labor or services through similar means.
HELPING TO COMBAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING
As many as 27.6 million men, women, and children worldwide are trafficked into forced labor and commercial sex. Human traffickers exploit roadways, railways and airways in communities across the country and world to recruit and transport their victims, so members of the transport community have a special ability and responsibility to look for and disrupt human trafficking.
“At Green Worldwide Shipping, our commitment to sustainable, responsible logistics guides our strategy and actions. Signing the Transportation Leaders Against Human Trafficking pledge reflects this commitment and will let us drive positive change in the logistics industry.”
Anne Shudy Palmer | Director of Sustainability | Green Worldwide Shipping®
TRANSPORTATION LEADERS AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING PLEDGE
The TLAHT pledge addresses four critical areas to combat human trafficking, and as a pledge signatory, Green is committed to supporting them. These include educating our employees on recognizing and reporting signs of human trafficking, raising public awareness through consistent messaging in targeted outreach campaigns, and measuring Green’s collective impact by tracking and sharing key data points.
Green takes the following actions to help combat human trafficking in the logistics industry:
Maintaining a Human Rights Due Diligence program
Educating Green employees, vendors, and clients to recognize and report suspected instances of human trafficking
Maintaining a bronze-level sponsorship of TAT (formerly Truckers Against Trafficking) since 2022
Green’s TLAHT participation complements the Company’s overall responsible business mission and initiatives. By aligning our efforts across the transportation sector, Green contributes to the broader goal of eliminating human trafficking.
