U.S. CUSTOMERS AND BORDER PATROL FORCED LABOR TARGETING DECLINED IN SEPTEMBER

The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) recently reported a 58% decrease in forced labor products seized. CBP targeted entries valued at more than $158.6 million on suspicion of forced labor in September. These products include items under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). CBP also seized nearly 1,623 shipments containing counterfeit goods valued at more than $205 million. Counterfeit goods are unregulated, may contain toxic or harmful substances, and are often produced using forced human labor.

“Unscrupulous vendors threaten the health and safety of unsuspecting consumers by peddling counterfeit goods as authentic and safe products…CBP strongly encourages consumers to protect their families by purchasing authentic goods from reputable vendors.”
